wasnt going to blog re politicians but as this is one of the biggest democratic crisis in our time, and stuff is changing all the time, it will be interesting(for me) to read later.
Speaker resigned, as he should have. Being in charge of the comittee in charge of expenses and having fought the Freedom of Info Act, he does not have the moral authority or trust to get us out of this mess.
Brown etc announced temporary measures, not looked at the detail. bound to be better but no doubt it can still be abused.
The whole caboodle needs reform. We need a participatory democracy not this rediculous one vote in 5 years job. Everyone feels disempowered thats why everyone is so angry. Politicians have got us into this mess of recession and expenses, and it has got to be the end of this Greed is Good culture.
MPs are WELL PAID. It doesnt matter that others are paid more. Even at £60,000+ they are in an elite bubble. That is why they dont get it. Pay them the median wage and then they will undergo the same experiences and hardship as most people and therefore they might understand and try and change those things rather than this globalisation nonsense which is doing so much harm. We need more localisation and return the power to the people.
