I am about to start blogging again. I notice it is a year since i last wrote anything, i will try better this year.
It is overcast with light drizzle, and a bit of a cold northeasterly wind. Yesterday i saw my first female damselfly of the season - a banded damselfly in the nettles by the river, where they hide from the males until ready to mate and lay.A solitary male was spotted a couple of days ago.
This year has been quiter on the river - the recession has obviously affected narrowboat holidays and boaters. This has a beneficial effect on the river as less disturbance for wildlife and less bank erosion.
The mayblossom of the hawthorns is still out and leaves are on most trees now- the last being the ash.
The river severn is at last nearly down to near summer levels, just an inch above.
Anyhow enough for now - more later
